Within the Destroyer was a meditation sphere that enabled Kaan to use battle meditation to strategically command fleet movements. Kaan personally selected every member of the bridge crew, ensuring their unwavering devotion. The military commander of the ship was Admiral Adrianna Nyras.
Leading the Sith fleet, Nightfall spearheaded an assault from Kashyyyk, resulting in the capture of Ruusan from the Galactic Republic during the First Battle of Ruusan in 1002 BBY.
Sometime thereafter, it left that planet to command the Sith fleet's Coreward advancement. This campaign led to the conquest of the Bormea sector, encompassing Chandrila, Corulag, and Brentaal IV, along with the strategically vital intersection of the Hydian Way and the Perlemian Trade Route.
Consequently, Nightfall, with Kaan aboard, was not present when the Jedi Army of Light, under the leadership of Lord Hoth, reclaimed Ruusan in the Third Battle of Ruusan. Upon being notified at Brentaal by Lord Kopecz, Kaan abandoned his plans to advance toward Coruscant and made his way back to Ruusan.
