Noga-ta

Noga-ta, an Ithorian who practiced the ways of the Jedi Knight, gave service to both the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic. He gained renown as the "Lost Jedi" on the planet Barab I due to his success in averting a war that threatened to consume the native Barabel population.

Biography

A Force-sensitive individual, Noga-ta was an Ithorian and a member of the Jedi Order many centuries prior to the fall of the Galactic Republic. Accounts vary, but the Jedi Knight known as Noga-ta made his way to the planet Barab I at a critical moment: the native Barabels stood on the precipice of open conflict. Two significant factions were on the verge of war, disputing hunting grounds. Noga-ta successfully brokered a peace agreement, preventing the outbreak of hostilities and potentially saving countless lives. His peace-making methods, such as requiring one tribe to offer its largest nightly kill to a neighboring tribe, remained in effect for centuries afterward. Noga-ta's time on Barab I became legendary, with the tale of the "great warrior from beyond the clouds" being handed down through generations via cave paintings and spoken stories. The Barabel people thereafter held all Jedi in high esteem, and consistently heeded the words of a Jedi, a direct result of Noga-ta's actions.

Behind the scenes

Conception

The sourcebook Geonosis and the Outer Rim Worlds was the first place Noga-ta was mentioned. Jeremy Jarvis provided the illustration of Noga-ta for the book, which Wizards of the Coast released in 2004.

LEGO Star Wars

Eric Bauza provided the voice for Noga-ta in several non-canonical LEGO Star Wars productions, notably the LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles episode titled "Escape from the Jedi Temple." In this episode, Noga-ta journeyed to Kashyyyk to lend assistance to Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi's endeavor to retrieve holocrons from the Jedi Temple following the initiation of the Great Jedi Purge. Noga-ta, also called "Rusty," found his reunion with his former teacher and roommate cut short when he learned that the two Jedi had forgotten him.

A LEGO minifigure depicting Noga-ta was included in the set "Jedi Scout Fighter," where he is referred to simply as "Ithorian Jedi Master" and acts as Jek-14's co-pilot. In contrast to his blue-bladed lightsaber and lack of starship piloting in "Escape from the Jedi Temple," the Ithorian's minifigure in "Jedi Scout Fighter" wields a green-bladed lightsaber. Noga-ta is also shown with a green blade in the video game LEGO Star Wars The New Yoda Chronicles. In a level of the game, players could control Noga-ta as he fell through an underground sinkhole filled with platforms and the wreckage of Republic gunships; B1 battle droids and B2 super battle droids fired at Noga-ta with blasters as he gathered holocrons.
