During the High Republic Era, Starlight Beacon's Shipmaster and quartermaster was Nubarron, a non-binary Jedi Master of a yet-to-be-identified species. This amorphous being, with a resemblance to a cloud, possessed the unique ability to generate lightning and could only use telepathy to communicate with fellow Force-users. Their emotional state was reflected in their coloring, shifting to lavender when calm, pink-and-purple when annoyed, and scarlet when angered. When not hovering, this Jedi would often submerge themselves in a tall, cylindrical jar.
Because Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh had a tendency to crash starships, Nubarron forbade her from using any more of them. They were displeased that Rwoh had lost a Vector to the Nihil. Rwoh had also promised to return a specific junk hauler in good shape, but she completely wrecked the Varonchagger in a crash during the attack on Valo. Following this incident, Nubarron issued an order prohibiting the assignment of any ships to Rwoh.
Nubarron's life unfolded during the High Republic Era. In their youngling years, a circus discovered them and, unaware of Nubarron's sentient nature due to their exclusive reliance on telepathic communication, kept them as an exhibit. Eventually, a Jedi Wayseeker visited the circus, enabling Nubarron to communicate their demand for freedom. Subsequently, they joined the Jedi Order and eventually achieved the rank of Jedi Master.
When the space station Starlight Beacon opened its doors in 232 BBY, Nubarron took on the roles of quartermaster and Shipmaster, overseeing the complement of Jedi starships stationed there.
Nubarron, a non-binary individual of an unconfirmed species, manifested as a diminutive storm cloud that changed colors according to their mood, typically fluctuating between shades of pink, purple, and red. They consistently declined to reveal their species, leading to speculation that they might belong to a previously unknown group of Filar-Nitzan.
As a Force-sensitive being, Nubarron demonstrated sufficient skill to attain the rank of Jedi Master. They were physically capable of wielding a lightsaber and regularly honed their lightsaber combat skills.
