The Confederacy of Independent Systems initiated the Kashyyyk occupation on the planet Kashyyyk around 19 BBY, which marked the concluding year of the Clone Wars time period. During this occupation, the nearby Trandoshan species identified and seized many of the native Wookiees, subsequently becoming designated slave overseers for the Confederacy and constructing multiple long-term enslavement facilities across the planet. Ultimately, the numerous attacks and intrusions during the occupation prompted the Confederacy to dispatch battle droid forces to Kashyyyk for a comprehensive invasion, culminating in the subsequent Battle of Kashyyyk.
