Olaver Lansel, holding the rank of Colonel, was a male Human serving as an Imperial officer within the military forces commanded by Moff Kentor Sarne. Sarne was a prominent warlord controlling the Kathol sector situated in the Outer Rim Territories. Secretly, Lansel was a sleeper agent strategically placed on the planet Gandle Ott. He maintained a cover as an alcoholic bureaucrat who had supposedly fallen out of favor with Moff Sarne's loyalists, resulting in his assignment there. Officially, he functioned as the Imperial liaison officer, and was publicly known for his outspoken criticisms of the warlord's governance. In the year 8 ABY, Sarne activated Lansel when the Moff was compelled to retreat from his capital city on Kal'Shebbol following an attack by the New Republic. Stopping at Gandle Ott during his retreat, Sarne tasked Lansel with delaying any pursuit by the New Republic forces and diverting them towards the Shintel system, where the Moff had prepared an ambush. Shortly thereafter, the CR90 corvette named FarStar belonging to the New Republic arrived at Gandle Ott. In a meeting with key members of the starship's command staff, Lansel followed Sarne's instructions by directing them to Shintel.
Colonel Olaver Lansel, a male Human, was a member of the forces led by the Imperial warlord Moff Kentor Sarne, who controlled the Kathol sector. He functioned as a sleeper agent for the Moff, strategically placed on Gandle Ott to serve as the planet's Imperial liaison officer. To maintain his cover, Lansel was known for a public disagreement with officers who were personally loyal to Sarne. This led to his assignment to Gandle Ott as a form of punishment. Lansel was often seen drunk and openly voiced his disapproval of Sarne and his administration.

In 8 ABY, the New Republic drove out Moff Sarne from his capital located on Kal'Shebbol. Sarne retreated to Gandle Ott with his fleet, falsely telling the population that he was embarking on a mission to rid the sector of Rebels and pirates. After gathering supplies from the planet and recalling all loyal Imperial personnel, including the governor, Sarne departed from orbit with the majority of the defense force. Before leaving, Sarne activated Lansel, instructing him to execute command files that the Moff had installed in the planetary BRT supercomputer, CUTH-BRT-92-X3. This programming would force CUTH-BRT-92-X3 to follow the orders of its Imperial controllers, specifically to delay and hinder the FarStar, a New Republic CR90 corvette that was pursuing the Moff. Lansel also received orders to slow down any New Republic pursuit by misdirecting them to the neighboring world of Shintel, where Sarne had set up a trap for the corvette.
Several days after Sarne's departure, the FarStar arrived in orbit and landed at Montrol Spaceport. Lansel was part of a delegation, headed by Marja Lang, the planet's Acting-Governor following her superior's departure, that welcomed the crew. On the fourth day of the FarStar's visit, Lansel organized a brunch at Torqumada Hanging Gardens, inviting the New Republic delegation along with various media personalities, business leaders, and politicians. During the event, Lansel shared the information about Shintel with members of the FarStar's crew, suggesting that he had overheard other Imperial officers mentioning that Sarne was going to Shintel to "pick up the backups." Believing they had a reliable lead on Sarne's location, the FarStar left the planet to pursue him, having established diplomatic relations between the New Republic and Gandle Ott.
Lansel, as an undercover operative, was convincing in his portrayal of a dejected and alcoholic bureaucrat. He had training in using a blaster, possessed knowledge of bureaucratic operations, and was capable of operating security systems, programming droids, and handling explosives.
Olaver Lansel made an appearance in Death Is Remotely Possible, which was the third RPG adventure within The DarkStryder Campaign. It was published in 1995 by West End Games.
