OOL-2 was a combat automaton of the B1-series battle droid type, serving within the ranks of the Trade Federation Droid Army. Sometime in the period between 39 and 36 BBY, OOL-2 was dispatched to the moon known as Alaris Prime. The Trade Federation had intentions to establish a colony there. While stationed there, OOL-2 discovered a power core that had sustained damage from the indigenous gundarks of the moon and was later completely obliterated by Wookiees originating from the planet of Kashyyyk. OOL-2 communicated the power core's destruction to Nute Gunray, the leader of the Trade Federation. Gunray then instructed OOL-2 to locate and eliminate the gundarks he believed were responsible.
OOL-2 functioned as a B1-series battle droid, fighting for the Trade Federation Droid Army. In the time frame spanning 39 BBY to 36 BBY, OOL-2 received orders to go to Alaris Prime, a moon that had recently been discovered by Wookiees hailing from the planet of Kashyyyk. The Trade Federation desired to colonize this moon. However, the Galactic Senate had already granted consent for its colonization to the Wookiees who had first found it. Despite this, OOL-2, accompanied by a substantial contingent of droid army forces, arrived on the moon prior to the Wookiee landing on Alaris Prime.
While OOL-2 was present on Alaris Prime, two Wookiees named Chewbacca and Shoran disembarked on the moon. They proceeded to destroy one of the Trade Federation's power cores. This core had already been significantly damaged as a result of attacks by gundarks, which were the primary predators of Alaris Prime. The Trade Federation became aware of the damage inflicted upon the power core and dispatched OOL-2 to investigate. OOL-2 located the ruins of the power core and reported its destruction to Nute Gunray, the leader of the Trade Federation. OOL-2 incorrectly stated that gundarks were responsible for the destruction. Gunray instructed OOL-2 to find the gundarks he presumed were responsible, kill them, and then trade their pelts to the Trade Federation's allies, the Trandoshans. The Trade Federation later attacked the gundark nest and eliminated the creatures from Alaris Prime but were eventually driven off the world by the Wookiees.
Being a B1 battle droid, OOL-2's height was 1.91 meters. Orders were given to the droid directly from Nute Gunray.
OOL-2 was armed with an E-5 blaster rifle.
OOL-2's initial appearance was in the 2001 video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, developed by LucasArts. Michael Gough provided the droid's voice. OOL-2's presence is limited to the conclusion of the "Moving and Attacking" level, which is the first level of the Wookiee training campaign. In this level, he investigates a power core that the player, controlling Chewbacca and Shoran, destroyed earlier in the mission. If the player selects OOL-2, the droid is only identified as a standard Trade Federation trooper, with his name only being revealed during dialogue with Nute Gunray.
