Ormes Apolin held the position of senator representing Kuat within the New Republic's Galactic Senate in the year 28 ABY. Even prior to the New Republic, during the age of the oppressive Galactic Empire – the regime that came before – he was active as a politician. Despite his public claims to the contrary, Apolin's association with the Empire was significant; he had been sufficiently connected to Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine to have personally witnessed his Royal Guards. Despite being considered a possible leader for what remained of Palpatine's Empire, Snoke eventually ascended to the role of Supreme Leader of the First Order.
