Orpali dragons, a scarce species of lizard, were regarded as a choice edible item by the Hutts. These dragons were raised in confinement, killed when very young, and customarily presented atop a base of candied chuba eyes. At least one century prior to the Cold War that occurred between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, orpali dragons were part of the culinary offerings for the centennial feast celebrating Bakuush the Hutt's milestone. However, some young dragons managed to flee Bakuush's palace via the sewer system and found their way into the poisonous swamps of the planet Nal Hutta, ultimately transforming into chemilizards.
The initial reference to orpali dragons appeared within the Codex entry concerning chemilizards found in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a video game that BioWare launched in 2011.
