Ottegans, originating from the Ottega system, represented a genetic divergence from the sentient Ithorian species. Sharing a similar build to Ithorians, they possessed a hammerhead shape and a long face featuring widely spaced eyes. However, a key difference was that Ottegans had a single mouth situated low on their necks, unlike the Ithorians' two mouths located on opposite sides. Consequently, Ithorians nicknamed their relatives hrumgatha, meaning "lone mouths," humorously suggesting that Ottegans needed to speak twice as much to be understood. The precise genetic connection between these two groups remained a subject of debate among geneticists for thousands of years.
Praster Ommlen, an Ottegan follower of the Sacred Order of Ramulus, was present within Maz Kanata's circle during the time of the Battle of Takodana.
