The Pacifist faction, often shortened to just Pacifists, represented a political group within the Galactic Republic Senate. This faction was composed of a diverse collection of unhappy Core Worlds star systems that resisted higher taxation and opposed the concentration of authority enabled by the Military Creation Act. Generally, faction members were against the Clone Wars and tended to vote against broadening governmental powers.
The Pacifists advocated for enabling planets to withdraw from the Republic without conflict, with the expectation that the difficulties of existing outside the Republic's structure would eventually drive them to return and agree to less advantageous conditions. The Council of Neutral Systems was a distinct political segment of the Pacifists, encompassing 1,500 star systems that desired to maintain neutrality during the Clone Wars. An extreme element within the Pacifists was the Secessionist Faction, comprising systems that were either opportunistically threatening to leave the Republic to gain more influence or were seriously contemplating secession.
The Pacifist faction made its initial appearance in 2010, specifically in "The Mandalore Plot," the twelfth episode of the second season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Its formal identification occurred later, in the Fantasy Flight Games canon roleplaying game rulebook Rise of the Separatists, which was published in 2019.
