Park of Sacred Pools

Xanatos commits suicide in the Park The Park of Sacred Pools, formerly a pristine area, represented one of the sacred locations of natural splendor supposedly under the protection of the Telosian government. Prior to 44 BBY, the fallen Jedi known as Xanatos made his return to his homeworld, bringing with him the mining capabilities of the Offworld Mining Corporation. He concealed his true intentions behind a facade of games and politics, and proceeded to mine and devastate numerous sacred Telosian sites, including the Sacred Pools. Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, aided by the con artist Den and POWER party member Andra, intervened to halt Xanatos' exploitation of these sites. However, their efforts came too late to prevent the once-untouched Sacred Pools from becoming heavily contaminated by the mining operations. At the time of Xanatos' final stand, the pools were bubbling, blackish, and extremely toxic, capable of dissolving flesh from bone rapidly. They emitted a constant stream of yellowish, poisonous fumes. The area surrounding the pools displayed active volcanic activity, characterized by hardened lava formations and fissures that periodically erupted with significant bursts of steam.

During his ultimate confrontation with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, Xanatos skillfully utilized the steam eruptions to keep the two Jedi at bay. However, when reinforcements arrived to support his former master, Xanatos found himself trapped near one of the pools. Choosing to avoid capture or death at the hands of his former mentor, Xanatos threw himself into the pool behind him, where he dissolved within moments. In the aftermath of this event, the Telosian government committed to remediating the damage inflicted upon the sacred sites by Offworld.
