Offworld Mining Corporation

Offworld Mining Corporation, a prominent organization in the mining sector, was under the command of a coalition including Hutts, Xanatos, a Dark Jedi, and later, Xanatos' heir, Granta Omega. Operating through various fronts, such as the Telos-based UniFy, their primary objective involved the ruthless exploitation of planets' resources for personal enrichment. Their significant mining endeavors spanned across Telos and Bandomeer, while they also dominated ore extraction across numerous worlds within the Outer Rim.

History

Xanatos gained control of Offworld by misappropriating the treasury of the planet Telos. Leveraging this illicit wealth, his Jedi skills, and unethical business tactics, Xanatos developed the company into a major mining enterprise. This ascent established Xanatos as one of the most influential figures in the galaxy.

Due to Xanatos' imprudent investment decisions, Offworld encountered financial instability. In an attempt to stabilize the business, Xanatos tried to steal from the Jedi Order. Following this unsuccessful attempt, Xanatos caused severe environmental and economic devastation to his home planet of Telos through aggressive strip mining and fraudulent lottery schemes.

Upon Xanatos' passing, his son, Granta Omega, inherited the company, continuing its unethical operations. Interestingly, after Granta Omega's death, Offworld Mining Corporation's stock value increased, rising from 10,000 credits per share to 15,000 credits per share within a year.

Activities

Roughly twelve years before the Battle of Naboo, Offworld Mining Corporation achieved widespread control over ore and mineral extraction in the Outer Rim Territories. Offworld employees were recognized by a black triangular badge featuring a red planet with a silver starship circling it. The combined image of the planet and starship resembled a blood-red eye. As one of the galaxy's oldest and wealthiest corporations, Offworld Mining was known for eliminating its competition by any means necessary. While Hutts often served as operational managers, Whiphids were employed as bodyguards and enforcers, and the company's leadership structure was intentionally obscure. The actual mining operations relied on slave labor obtained from various locations in the Outer Rim. Xanatos infiltrated the leadership of Bandomeer and seized control after Jemba the Hutt's death, thereby disrupting Offworld's control of the planet. This was part of a plan devised by Xanatos to get revenge on his former mentor, Qui-Gon Jinn, but the plan backfired, and control of Bandomeer was transferred to the Home Planet Party and Arcona Mineral Harvest Corporation.

Behind the scenes

The logo of Offworld Corporation in Jedi Apprentice: The Dark Rival is depicted as two rings merged together to form the letters O and C. It is worth noting that the Aurebesh alphabet is commonly used in the Star Wars Galaxy, rather than the English alphabet. However, the English alphabet is utilized and known in-universe as the High Galactic alphabet. In Jedi Apprentice: The Rising Force, a different logo is presented. A Hutt miner, employed by the corporation, wears a triangular patch showcasing a red planet designed to resemble an eye, with a silver ship positioned in front of the planet, representing the eye's iris. The words Offworld Mining are displayed beneath the patch.
