In the era of the Clone Wars, a widespread war between the Galactic Republic and the dissenting Confederacy of Independent Systems, the architect droid Huyang informed a cohort of Jedi younglings on the vessel Crucible that lightsaber hilts could be constructed with pastillion ore. Many years following this, Vicrul of the Knights of Ren incorporated it into his helmet.
The initial reference to Pastillion ore occurred in "A Test of Strength," the seventh installment of Star Wars: The Clone Wars' fifth season, a canon animated series. Its original broadcast date was November 10, 2012.
