Even though it wasn't deemed important from a strategic perspective, it became the site of a substantial deployment of Imperial troops leading up to the Battle of Scarif. It also experienced regular communication disruptions and was the origin of numerous coded messages from the Imperial Military Department of Advanced Weapons Research that mentioned the Death Star project. Consequently, it piqued the interest of Alliance Intelligence, leading them to dispatch Captain Cassian Andor to look into claims that the Empire was moving kyber crystals to the Patriim system.
