Pax Chizzik

Pax Chizzik, a male Human Jedi Initiate, underwent his training at the Jedi Order's Temple academy on Coruscant, the Republic's capital planet, amidst the Clone Wars. Known for his charisma and popularity, Chizzik had unknowingly become accustomed to employing mind tricks to his benefit. In 19 BBY, he engaged in a duel with Tallisibeth "Scout" Enwandung-Esterhazy, a Jedi Padawan, during the Jedi Temple Apprentice Tournament. After attempting to use a mind trick to make her give up, he seemed to overpower her and thought he had won. However, Esterhazy outsmarted him, leading to his defeat, which he accepted gracefully.

Biography

Jedi Training

Born around 30 BBY, Pax Chizzik, a Force-sensitive male Human, received education in the Force's use from the Jedi Order at their Jedi Temple located on Coruscant, the Republic's capital. When the Clone Wars began between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Chizzik stayed at the Temple, continuing to hone his skills in both the Force and lightsaber combat. By 19 BBY, while in the Climbing and Ropework class of Jedi Master Bear, Tallisibeth "Scout" Enwandung-Esterhazy, an orphaned Jedi apprentice, aided him in practicing the Twelve Intermediate Knots, notably the Mrlssi half-hitch.

The Apprentice Tournament

Chizzik dueled Tallisibeth Enwandung-Esterhazy (pictured) during the Jedi Temple Apprentice Tournament.

During the Apprentice Tournament in 19 BBY, Initiate Chizzik had the opportunity to be chosen as a Padawan by a Jedi Knight or Master, under the supervision of Jedi Master Ilena Xan. In the first round, he faced Enwandung-Esterhazy, who had several ideas for defeating Chizzik but was hesitant to use them against someone so young. As the duel commenced, both bowed to each other, with Chizzik wishing her well in the fight, a sentiment she perceived as sincere.

The match started with Chizzik immediately engaging Enwandung-Esterhazy in lightsaber combat, laughing as he did, which caused her to smile back. At that moment, he began to use the Force to influence her, subtly trying to convince her to lose the match on purpose and let him win. However, a sniffle from Grand Master Yoda broke Chizzik's hold on her, allowing her to resist his influence. Enwandung-Esterhazy briefly overpowered Chizzik, using her greater size and strength to push him back before he managed to parry her attack. He then launched a counter-attack, nearly overwhelming her before stopping. Chizzik then told Enwandung-Esterhazy that he had sensed his influence over her through the Force, comparing it to the Mrlssi half-hitch; however, Chizzik also stated that, while he used it to his advantage, it had been unintentional, claiming that he had never done it before.

Jedi Grand Master Yoda (pictured) indirectly contributed to Chizzik's loss.

After this revelation, Enwandung-Esterhazy dropped her lightsaber. Chizzik was initially puzzled but quickly interpreted it as a sign of surrender. He approached her, expressing his hope that she wouldn't be assigned to the Agricultural Corps of the Jedi Service Corps, and tried to help her up as a gesture of good sportsmanship. However, Enwandung-Esterhazy used his naivety to her advantage, placing him in a wrist lock and forcing him to kneel. She then released him, apologizing as their duel concluded.

After the tournament

Following the match, Hanna Ding, an Arkanian apprentice, rushed to Chizzik, fussing over him while Master Xan inquired about his well-being. Ding then demanded to Master Xan that Enwandung-Esterhazy be disqualified. However, Chizzik himself objected, stating that his opponent had acted within the rules, a sentiment with which Xan concurred.

In the subsequent match between Ding and Enwandung-Esterhazy, Ding used her opponent's victory over Chizzik as a means to provoke her. Enwandung-Esterhazy also deceived Ding at one point during their duel, lunging at Ding as she had with Chizzik before utilizing a different tactic afterward. Following Enwandung-Esterhazy's victory over Ding, Chizzik himself told her that she had taught him much about being a Jedi.

Personality and traits

Chizzik, well-liked at the Temple's academy, was known for using his Force powers to enhance his popularity. He possessed natural leadership qualities, intelligence, and a great deal of spirit and charm. Enwandung-Esterhazy described him as someone "born to play a dashing prince in some romantic epic of the last age."

Chizzik also exhibited some conceit, treating challenges like games, assuming he would be seen as a great Jedi Knight whose heroics would be legendary. He was also somewhat gullible, falling for a trick by Enwandung-Esterhazy. Nevertheless, he was honorable and accepted his defeat.

Powers and abilities

Chizzik was trained in the Jedi arts at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant (pictured).

Chizzik had a strong connection to the Force. While his wrists were exceptionally quick, his footwork was lacking, and his movements were somewhat "chunky." He was known for his speed, capable of executing fast parries, and for his imaginative attacks. Chizzik's ability to influence others through the Force, making them act favorably towards him, was believed to be unintentional; however, he still used it to his advantage, such as during his duel with Enwandung-Esterhazy.

Equipment

During his training at the Jedi Temple, Chizzik used a green-bladed training lightsaber.
