Peckhum was a male spacefarer who possessed the transport ships Lightning Rod and Thunderbolt.
Peckhum struggled financially, earning a living as a guardian for one of the numerous Orbital Solar Energy Transfer Satellites orbiting Coruscant. He utilized an aging transport ship, the Lightning Rod, for this purpose. In addition to his caretaker duties, Peckhum also delivered supplies to the Jedi Academy, acting as a trusted associate of Luke Skywalker. On one of his supply trips to Coruscant, he encountered a young boy named Zekk and decided to take the orphaned child under his protection. They developed a friendship, sharing their earnings and possessions.
While Peckhum was away, Zekk frequently ventured into Coruscant's underlevels, discovering a knack for locating valuable items. However, this ability was inconsistent. In one instance, Zekk descended forty-two levels of a disused turbolift shaft only to find a piece of foil stuck to some sludge instead of the glittering object he expected.
Zekk would present the valuable metal scraps, trinkets, and found objects to Peckhum, who possessed the knowledge of how and to whom to sell them in order to provide for their needs. However, Zekk's discoveries accumulated faster than Peckhum could sell them, leading to a growing collection within their living space.
One day in 23 ABY, Peckhum returned from his shift at the mirror stations to find that Zekk had vanished. With assistance from Jacen and Jaina Solo, he learned that his friend had abandoned him to become a Dark Jedi at the Shadow Academy, which was in orbit around Coruscant. Together with Jaina and Lowbacca, he used a solar mirror to disable the Shadow Academy's cloaking field, revealing it to the New Republic fleet. However, the station activated its hyperdrive engine and jumped into hyperspace before the fleet could inflict significant damage. Despite the distress and worry this caused him, Peckhum found some comfort in the fact that Zekk had defied his new instructors to uphold a promise he had made to Peckhum before joining the Shadow Academy.
After the Shadow Academy was defeated and Zekk was restored from the influence of the dark side, Peckhum gifted the Lightning Rod to Zekk and assumed ownership of the advanced Thunderbolt, a transport ship that the New Republic had been attempting to give him for several years. He continued his regular supply runs for the Jedi Academy. He also supplied the Imperial pilot Qorl, who was isolated in the jungle. This assistance concluded in 24 ABY, when the former pilot requested that he not return. During the Yuuzhan Vong assault on Yavin 4 in 26 ABY, Peckhum and Streen were attempting to acquire supplies on Corellia, preventing them from assisting with the evacuation of the Jedi children.
