The individual holding the position of Peragus Mining Facility Maintenance Officer bore the responsibility of repairing droids throughout the vast complex during the era of the Dark Wars. He met his demise in 3951 BBY at the hands of the facility's own droids, which had been hacked by an HK-50 assassin droid during its relentless pursuit of the Jedi Exile, Meetra Surik.
Upon the arrival of Meetra Surik aboard the Ebon Hawk, a thorough inventory of the ship's cargo was conducted, and the droids present were dispatched for maintenance. Among these droids was an HK-50 unit, initially presenting itself as a mere protocol droid. It revealed Surik's identity as a Jedi, thereby igniting discord among the miners regarding the substantial bounty that the Exchange had placed on individuals of her kind. Eager to demonstrate its "usefulness," the maintenance officer assigned the droid tasks until its Master departed from the medical bay. As the division among the miners intensified, unexplained accidents involving droid malfunctions began to occur, baffling the maintenance officer. Suspecting foul play, he implemented voice-lock security on the Maintenance Console, ensuring exclusive access to droid commands through the code "Maintenance Control: Voiceprint ID: R1-B5."
At one juncture, Sien approached him, questioning his motives for aiding Coorta, a miner determined to claim the bounty, in defiance of the facility's leadership. Perplexed, he assured Sien that he had no involvement in such matters, nor any agreement with Coorta. Unbeknownst to him, HK-50 had been impersonating his voice to issue commands to mining droids and gain access to voice-locked computer consoles. It also manipulated Coorta into assisting its escape from the station.
As the frequency of accidents escalated, he began to share the security officer's suspicions of sabotage. However, he remained completely unaware of the true culprit until the emergency lockdown was activated, and mining droids targeted him. HK-50 callously recorded his final words as mining droids breached his office door and fatally drilled him with mining lasers.
Surik later discovered his lifeless body at the feet of HK-50 in the fuel depot. She then cunningly deceived the droid to obtain the access code for a voiceprinted computer console, accessible only to the maintenance officer or someone possessing his voice.
