Peregrine (legend)

The Peregrine, a spectral figure at its heart, was a time-honored legend from Corellia. It was said that the wraith was the spirit of a man of old, doomed to roam the cosmos forever, unable to return home. Han Solo was acquainted with this tale in his youth. In 9 ABY, during a journey to Peregrine's Nest, the headquarters for Garm Bel Iblis' private army, Solo and his comrade Lando Calrissian encountered the name of the Peregrine, a Dreadnaught-class heavy cruiser serving as the flagship for the Corellian's forces. Solo then informed Calrissian that the name of this heavy cruiser echoed that of the Corellian legend he'd learned in his childhood. Solo considered the legend to be "creepy."

Behind the scenes

Dark Force Rising, the second book within Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy, released in 1992, contained a reference to the Peregrine.
