Perlote trees, a species of trees, flourished within the eastern swamps of Naboo. This planet, situated in the Mid Rim section of the galaxy, was their native habitat. These trees were home to colonies of slug-beetles, a creature considered a tasty treat by the indigenous Gungans.
In the era of the Clone Wars, the Confederacy of Independent Systems built a secret laboratory beneath these perlote trees. Within this lab, Doctor Nuvo Vindi brought back to life the deadly Blue Shadow Virus.
