Pit racing prior to the Clone Wars commencing. Pit racing, an illicit but well-liked activity, took place within the garbage pits of Coruscant. Participants would compete in specialized, custom-built pit racers, which were essentially gliders. They would use these gliders to navigate the descent through the garbage pits, aiming for the lowest points to gather scales from the garbage worms living there. This sport carried significant risk, and was often targeted by Judicial law enforcement, due to the hazardous ejection of garbage canisters from the pits into orbit, which posed a lethal threat to the racers. The practice of pit racing goes back to around 129 BBY. Noteworthy figures in pit racing included Reymet Autem and Anakin Skywalker, both of whom were regulars at the Wicko District garbage pits. Furthermore, Jahan Cross had experience with this sport, having participated during his younger years.
