In the past, Pitann belonged to the Galactic Republic, with its interests championed in the Senate by Senator Han Olbeg. Subsequently, Pitann became a component of the Kathol Republic, where Senator Sho'ban Do acted as its representative in the Kathol Republic Senatorial Council.
Pitann was abundant with extensive ore deposits, resulting in a landscape marked by significant strip-mining activities and numerous refineries. The atmosphere on the planet was heavily polluted and intensely hot, coupled with strong gravitational forces. However, the planet's high gravity diminished the financial viability of its metals and ores because of the costs associated with lifting them out of the gravity well.
Existence on Pitann was challenging and unpleasant; the rugged natives prided themselves on being more resilient than any other inhabitants of the Kathol Republic. The inhabitants showed unwavering support for Senator Do.

During 7 ABY, the miners of Pitann started altering their mining droids, repurposing them for gladiatorial combat to provide amusement. These competitions sparked disagreement among those in the Senatorial Council.
