Sho'ban Do

Sho'ban Do, a male Near-Human hailing from Pitann, held a senatorial seat representing his planet within the Kathol Republic Senatorial Council during 8 ABY.

As a native of Pitann, Do possessed physical traits typical of its inhabitants: a stocky build with a broad chest, powerful arms and legs, and a complexion characterized by dark, leathery skin. Due to Pitann's stronger gravitational pull compared to Dayark, his gait on the Kathol Republic's capital world appeared somewhat bouncy.

Driven by ambition, Do harbored a secret scheme to seize control of the Kathol Republic through a coup, intending to declare himself the leader of a "Kathol Tyranny". He considered President Chandra Hobat to be an ineffective leader, and as the Ithorian's primary political adversary, he commanded a significant faction within the Kathol Republic Senatorial Council. A proponent of isolationism, he openly criticized Hobat's governance and advocated for severing all connections with the wider galaxy. Furthermore, Do championed increased military expenditure to reinforce their outdated armed forces. He narrowly lost the presidential election to Hobat, who secured a second term.

In 7 ABY, Do initiated the planning stages for his coup against the Kathol Republic. He enlisted the services of droid programmer and engineer Uta T'Cha to develop a universal droid remote control, enabling him to commandeer any droid at will. To mask his true intentions, he established a series of droid gladiatorial contests on his home planet of Pitann. Although these games sparked controversy and heated debates within the Senate Council, they effectively concealed his real objective, leading those who suspected his motives to falsely believe that the games were a front for creating and training a droid army.

Following the attack on the Kathol Republic Navy by external entities in 8 ABY, he attributed the loss of two corvettes to Hobat and her policies. This accusation eroded Hobat's coalition and bolstered his own standing. Hobat's position was further weakened when she exonerated the crew of the New Republic corvette FarStar from any involvement in the assault on their naval vessels.

Ultimately, the crew of the FarStar played a role in his downfall. Prompted by Senator Sal Olbeg, they launched an investigation into Do and his activities. They made contact with Uta T'Cha, who agreed to betray Do and provided a recorded confession of his plan as evidence. Subsequently, Do was apprehended.
