Pitrillistia

description: Pitrillistia was a remote terrestrial planet situated on the galactic periphery.

Far out on the edge of the galaxy, there existed a secluded planet of the terrestrial type known as Pitrillistia. This world was a component of the Pitrillistia system, which itself resided within the Mieru'kar sector. The sector was located in the New Territories region, which was a section of the larger Outer Rim Territories. Pitrillistia served as the homeworld for the Pitrillistian species, a sentient group of bipedal beings. These beings communicated primarily through a musical language, which was produced with the assistance of their diminutive wings.

Behind the scenes

The creation of Pitrillistia is attributed to Desset Fabien, who conceived of the planet and its inhabitants for the "Design An Alien" contest that was featured in Star Wars Galaxy Magazine. The competition, which sought submissions for entirely new alien species inspired by the original trilogy of Star Wars movies, began in the third issue of the magazine, released in April of 1995. Fabien, then nineteen years old, submitted his concept for the Pitrillistians. His entry received an "honorable mention" in the "16 and up" category and was subsequently published in the seventh issue in April of 1996.

Leland Chee, an employee of Lucasfilm responsible for maintaining the Holocron continuity database, later confirmed that material published from the "Design An Alien" competition was regarded as canon within the context of the Star Wars Legends continuity. The reference book The Essential Atlas, published in 2009, pinpointed the Pitrillistia system, and consequently Pitrillistia itself, within grid square O-3.
