Project Morrt was a clandestine undertaking executed by Admiral Apwar Trigit, acting under the authority of Warlord Zsinj.
Taking its name from the Gamorrean parasite, Project Morrt oversaw the development of the Morrt-class parasite-droid, a droid designed for espionage, equipped with a system to monitor the routes of starships.
The Morrt droids were engineered to latch onto various vessels and record their movements over extended periods. To chart hyperspace traffic routes, the droids would periodically detach from one ship and reattach to another. The resulting data would be used to strategically position empion mines.
When detonated, the empion mine would transmit a signal to Zsinj's military units, prompting an investigation by a ship aligned with Zsinj, such as Night Caller or Implacable. During one of these planned attacks, Wraith Squadron successfully seized Night Caller, uncovering the details of Project Morrt. Subsequently, the New Republic identified the Morrt droids infiltrating their fleet and manipulated them to fabricate a misleading traffic pattern, designed to ensnare Zsinj's forces.
Despite intelligence analyst Gara Petothel's detection of the New Republic's deception, Wraith Squadron still managed to bait Zsinj's vessels Provocateur and Constrictor into an ambush, leading to their destruction within the Morobe system. This incident signaled the termination of Project Morrt.
