Purghom Musical Performance Hall

Purghom Musical Performance Hall, often shortened to "Purghom hall" or just "Purghom," stood as a renowned concert hall situated within the Bith capital city of Weogar, located on the planet of Clak'dor VII. The hall gained particular notoriety when it hosted the entirely sold-out, two-week engagement of the percussion ensemble Shluur. Furthermore, it served as the setting for a disastrous musical endeavor orchestrated by Wurokkk, the Wookiee arranger for the aforementioned group, which had devastating consequences for the Bith attendees.

Description

The Purghom Musical Performance Hall, alternatively known as "Purghom hall" or simply "Purghom," was a concert hall found in the capital city of Weogar on the planet Clak'dor VII, the native homeworld of the Bith race. The structure itself was an immense, round auditorium, distinguished by a prominent golden chandelier suspended from the center of its ceiling.

History

The celebrated concert hall showcased performances by orchestras, bands, and various other musical acts hailing from across Clak'dor VII. On occasion, off-world performers were also granted the privilege of appearing at the venue. The Bith possessed an unparalleled passion for music, meaning that no style or instrument was deemed too "ordinary" for the hall; however, all performers were required to exhibit exceptional skill to earn the right to grace its stage. One such event featured a Gamorrean vocalist accompanied by at least a pair of Bith musicians. The uniquely diverse percussion group Shluur made an appearance at the concert hall as part of a tour that included two weeks of completely sold-out shows. These performances became the basis for an experiment conducted by Wurokkk, a male Wookiee and one of the group's arrangers. Wurokkk created a composition intended to subconsciously incite aggressive behavior in Bith through specific vibrations and brainwave patterns.

The resulting pandemonium from the experiment prompted a government investigation, which eventually uncovered Wurokkk's intentions. Upon being confronted, the Wookiee expressed satisfaction with the outcome of his experiment, but was nonetheless escorted away from the planet. It is possible that Wurokkk had a sonic surprise prepared for his escorts.

Behind the scenes

The Purghom Musical Performance Hall was first presented in the Star Wars Roleplaying Game sourcebook titled Geonosis and the Outer Rim Worlds, which was published in 2004 by Wizards of the Coast and authored by Craig R. Carey, Jason Fry, Jeff Quick, and Daniel Wallace. The location appeared in an adventure seed called "Beat of a Different Drum."
