Wurokkk

A distinctly unconventional and groundbreaking Wookiee music creator, Wurokkk became a member of the percussion ensemble known as Shluur. While performing with Shluur on the planet Clak'dor VII, the homeworld of the Bith species, he developed a strong interest in the brainwaves of the Bith. To indulge this fascination, the Wookiee crafted music intended to incite aggression in the Bith. After his methods were exposed, a group of spacers escorted Wurokkk away from the planet.

Biography

Wurokkk was a Wookiee and a composer of music. He participated in the touring percussion group Shluur, a collection of various species that combined diverse cultural percussive rhythms. During a series of Shluur concerts at Purghom Musical Performance Hall located on the planet Clak'dor VII, Wurokkk became intrigued by the Bith species' brainwave patterns and began experimenting with manipulating them using rhythmic vibrations. He eventually created a musical piece specifically designed to trigger an aggressive response in Bith by subtly influencing their biorhythms and brainwaves. The performance of this piece led to chaos, with audience members shouting, damaging property, and engaging in fights; the resulting disorder greatly disturbed the Bith population.

Upon the request of the Clak'dor VII government, a team of spacers launched an investigation into the incident. They discovered that the aggressive Bith had attended several Shluur concerts, for which Wurokkk had written the music. When confronted with the accusation that he had instigated the uproar, the composer simply expressed satisfaction with the success of his endeavors. Subsequently, the spacers, acting on the government's orders, escorted the Wookiee off-world.

Personality and traits

Wurokkk was an unusual and inventive composer who became captivated by Bith brainwave patterns following attendance at several concerts with Shluur, the band for which he was a composer. He resolved to pursue his interest by attempting to influence Bith behavior through his compositions. Wurokkk was a highly proficient composer, and he found pleasure in the success of his experiments, even though they caused Bith to become destructive and lose control. Even when publicly challenged about his actions, Wurokkk displayed contentment instead of regret.

Behind the scenes

Wurokkk was first presented in "Beat of a Different Drum," an adventure seed featured in the Star Wars Roleplaying Game sourcebook Geonosis and the Outer Rim Worlds, which was published in 2004 by Wizards of the Coast and authored by Craig R. Carey, Jason Fry, Jeff Quick, and Daniel Wallace. The adventure seed hints that Wurokkk might employ another sonic "surprise" against the player characters after they escort him off-world. Wurokkk received a mention in a Star Wars Blog entry entitled "Slugthrowers: An Overview of Popular Music and Musicians in a Galaxy Far, Far Away, Part 1," written by Ed Erdelac on November 21, 2013, although his name was incorrectly spelled as "Wurok."
