Raina Quill
Raina Quill, hailing from the planet Acherin, was a woman of Humanoid descent who aligned herself with the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars conflict.
Biography
Prior to the Clone Wars
Before the eruption of the Clone Wars, Raina had diligently pursued medical studies, aspiring to become a physician. However, her homeworld soon threw its lot in with the Separatist movement. Her motivations for joining were not rooted in the avarice and moral decay embodied by its leaders, but rather in her conviction that Acherin possessed the inalienable right to self-determination, irrespective of the movement's underlying motives. Furthermore, Raina harbored concerns that the Republic's authority was progressively trending toward authoritarianism.
Raina actively participated in the Separatist cause for the vast majority of the war. Ultimately, she and another Separatist commander, Toma, initiated discussions with Senior Jedi General Garen Muln to broker a truce. These negotiations showed considerable promise until Supreme Chancellor Palpatine executed Order 66. Raina and Toma played a crucial role in facilitating Muln's clandestine departure from Acherin, enabling him to seek refuge on the planet Ilum. Witnessing the nature of the nascent Empire, the people of Acherin rose up in resistance. Raina, alongside Toma, ascended to the ranks of its principal commanders, demonstrating exceptional piloting skills in combat.
The Imperial era
Roughly a year following the conclusion of the Clone Wars, the resistance teetered on the brink of collapse. The Imperial forces, under the command of Admiral Riwwel, proved to be an insurmountable obstacle for the disparate resistance fighters. On the resistance's final day, while being pursued by Imperial starfighters, Raina encountered a group of unfamiliar individuals from offworld: a Jedi Master named Obi-Wan Kenobi, [Ferus Olin](/article/ferus_olin], a former Jedi who had embraced the rebel cause, and a young boy of thirteen named Trever Flume. She guided them to their base of operations within the city of Eluthan and introduced them to Toma. Together with Ferus, Raina embarked in her starfighter, attempting to repel the encroaching Imperial forces, but their efforts proved futile. They returned to the others, and they all fled Acherin as Riwwel ordered the bombardment of Eluthan.
Escaping Acherin, yet still pursued by the Imperials, Raina piloted their vessel into an asteroid field amidst an atmospheric storm. By seeking refuge on an asteroid, they aimed to evade Imperial detection. Raina and Toma remained on the asteroid for several days, while Ferus, Obi-Wan, and Trever journeyed to Ilum with the intention of rescuing Garen Muln. They spent a few days there, sustained by a limited supply of food and resources. Upon the trio's return, accompanied by Garen, additional provisions, and prefabricated shelters, Raina established a makeshift medical facility, utilizing her expertise to aid Garen in his recovery from malnutrition.
Ferus Olin expressed his gratitude to Raina and Toma for their invaluable assistance, extending an invitation to join him in his efforts to locate and aid other Jedi survivors, using the asteroid as a sanctuary. Raina and Toma readily accepted.
When leaders of resistance movements from across the galaxy were transported to the base, Raina discovered Toma secretly transmitting their coordinates to Darth Vader. Upon realizing that Toma was a mole planted by Vader, Toma discharged his blaster, fatally wounding her. However, before succumbing to her injuries, she managed to return fire, killing him.
