Acherin, a planet of the terrestrial type, existed within Wild Space and was part of the Red Twins system. It is classified as a planet in the legends.
During the era known as the Clone Wars, Acherin, the planet, aligned itself with the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The Grand Army of the Republic, under the leadership of Jedi Master Garen Muln, engaged the Confederacy of Independent Systems' Droid Army in battle for control of the world. Master Muln successfully negotiated a treaty with the Separatists near the war's conclusion, bringing an end to one of the last battles of the conflict. However, the subsequent implementation of Order 66 forced Master Muln to escape with the aid of former Confederacy members. With the rise of the Galactic Empire, the Separatist forces on Acherin chose to resist, operating from their stronghold within the ancient city of Eluthan.
Some months after the Empire's formation, Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Jedi Master, along with Ferus Olin and Trever Flume, arrived on Acherin while attempting to evade the bounty hunter Boba Fett. They encountered Raina Quill and Toma, the leaders of the resistance movement, and assisted them in escaping the planet as Imperial forces, commanded by Admiral Riwwel, initiated an orbital bombardment upon Eluthan. They fled to a nearby asteroid, where Olin established a sanctuary for those fleeing the Empire. While a small colony took root on the asteroid, the Empire discovered their location and destroyed it using a superlaser.
