RE-M0

RE-M0, also known as Remo, was a droid constructed by Doctor Nasan Godera during the Cold War that occurred between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire. Serving as one of the doctor's assistants on Taris, RE-M0 provided assistance to an unknown Jedi Knight in the endeavor to locate and liberate his master when Godera was abducted in 3643 BBY by the Imperial Agent known as Watcher One.

Biography

The individual who brought RE-M0 into existence, Doctor Nasan Godera, held a prominent position as one of the Galactic Republic's most distinguished scientists throughout the Great Galactic War waged against the Sith Empire. Godera, a scientific prodigy, focused his expertise on developing superweapons, and harbored intense animosity towards the Empire. However, following the Republic's forced agreement to the Treaty of Coruscant, Godera, consumed by rage, abandoned the Republic. He secretly absconded to Taris, where he established numerous laboratories and facilities amidst the ruins of the once-imposing ecumenopolis. It was during this period that Godera conceived and built RE-M0, employing the droid as one of his aides.

In the year 3643 BBY, the Sith Lord named Darth Angral assumed control over several of the Republic's superweapon initiatives, seeking retribution against an unknown Jedi Knight for the demise of his son. Angral dispatched Watcher One, an Imperial Agent, to Taris with the objective of capturing Godera. Upon learning of the Empire's interest in him, Godera tasked RE-M0 with overseeing one of his installations and monitoring for any Imperial activity. Shortly thereafter, Watcher One's forces raided the facility, seizing control of the lab and searching for the doctor. RE-M0 remained concealed until the same Jedi Knight, who had incurred Angral's wrath, arrived at the facility, also seeking Godera. Following the defeat of the Imperial forces, the Knight engaged in a hologram communication with Watcher One. Watcher One revealed to the Knight that he had utilized the facility to track Godera's bioscan, but had deactivated the tracking equipment prior to the Knight's arrival.

RE-M0's programming strictly prohibited collaboration with anyone other than Godera, except under dire circumstances, but the Knight's arrival met the necessary conditions. The Knight successfully persuaded the droid to offer assistance, prompting RE-M0 to instruct the Knight to repair three tracking relays. While the Knight worked on restoring the tracking relays, RE-M0 repaired the computers to enable the tracking of Godera's bioscan. The Knight swiftly journeyed to the ruins of an old chemical plant situated on the shores of Lake Brell, where they discovered "Doctor Godera" lying lifeless at the feet of Watcher One. However, RE-M0, having followed the Knight, intervened, informing the Jedi that the body was not Godera, as a subsequent bioscan indicated he was still alive. Enraged, "Watcher One" shot RE-M0 and revealed his true identity as an Imperial shadow commando. The actual Watcher One had been posing as a Rodian named Kulaa, and had covertly transported the doctor out of the base right under the Jedi's nose.

Thanks to RE-M0's sacrifice, the Knight was ultimately able to locate the real Watcher One and Godera, and successfully rescue the scientist. Before Godera departed for Coruscant with agents of the Republic SIS, the Jedi entrusted RE-M0's memory core to the doctor, enabling him to rebuild the droid.

Characteristics

As a droid, RE-M0 exhibited unwavering loyalty to his creator and displayed concern for Godera's well-being. Similar to his master, RE-M0 held the Empire in contempt, referring to them as "Imperial Scum". RE-M0 also harbored dislike for the Republic, branding them as "Republic Cowards," although his animosity towards them was less intense than that directed at the Empire.

Behind the scenes

RE-M0's creation was for Star Wars: The Old Republic, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game launched by BioWare on December 20, 2011. He makes an appearance within the Jedi Knight class narrative on Republic-controlled Taris, where he aids the player in their search for Doctor Godera. RE-M0 meets his end after exposing Watcher One's deception, and his memory core can be retrieved and presented to Godera at the conclusion of the Taris storyline to fulfill a hidden quest.
