Rebel One

Rebel One was a significantly altered Providence-class carrier/destroyer. The Alliance to Restore the Republic utilized it during the year 0 ABY.

Characteristics

The Rebel One maintained the core structural design of standard Providence-class vessels. However, it featured a substantial, shell-shaped addition located on the aft section, beneath the command tower. Wings and supplementary engines extended outwards from both sides of this modified area.

History

Rebel One was among several vessels that formerly served the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. Later, the Rebel Alliance seized these ships for their own use.

The Rebel One functioned as a command ship for a rebel fleet that came under attack by the forces of the Galactic Empire at that time. Sustaining heavy damage, Jorin Sol successfully executed a jump to safety.

Following their escape from the engagement, Limpet ships provided assistance in the repair efforts.

Subsequently, the Rebel One engaged in a series of randomized hyperspace jumps. The hyperdrive malfunctioned while at the Imperial refueling station known as Bannistar Station. As part of a scheme to obliterate the refueling depot, the Rebels initiated the self-destruction of the Rebel One as Imperial vessels approached for boarding. This action resulted in the destruction of an EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate and a number of TIE/LN starfighters.
