A relic represented a pinnacle of artistic skill, designed specifically to encase and hide a kyber crystal. The inhabitants of the planet Rei'izu considered relics to be vessels containing the souls or spirits of those who had died. It was a custom for some to create a relic following the death of someone dear to them. While the physical bones of the deceased were kept by the living, it was believed that their spirits should be guided to a temple instead of being retained.
Relics came in diverse shapes and forms, including lanterns, mirrors, timepieces, combs, charms, and carvings made from ivory. The artistic quality of these containers caused them to resonate within the Force, a resonance that could be sensed by Force-sensitive individuals. These individuals might miss the presence of the crystal itself, attributing the Force signature to the artistry of the relic, failing to understand that it was housing kyber. The Empire prohibited anyone outside of the Jedi clans from possessing kyber crystals.
Over a period of approximately two years, Ekiya amassed numerous crates filled with relics, storing them within the cargo bay of her starship, known as the Poor Crow. She made a promise to her fellow Rei'izu refugees that she would transport the relics back to their homeworld and ensure their delivery to the temples.
