Reuther, a Najib of the male persuasion, operated Reuther's Wetdock, a popular bar situated on Najiba near the spaceport, making it a common gathering spot. In addition to running a cantina, Reuther had formerly worked as a bounty hunter, spoke Old Corellian, and knew many Corellian traditions. Reuther observed Adalric Cessius Brandl using the Force to frighten the patrons of his establishment upon Brandl's arrival on Najiba. Brandl desired transport to Trulalis, however, flights were prohibited while the Children of Najiba were close to the planet. Wanting to protect the Najibans, Reuther sought out a pilot to carry Brandl away from Najiba. Reuther located Captain Thaddeus Ross, a long-time Corellian associate. Thaddeus consented to transport Brandl off Najiba, and the pair departed aboard his vessel, the Kierra.
