Roldalna

Roldalna, a stellar object, existed within the Kira sector of the Expansion Region, as defined in Legends continuity. Soon after the establishment of the New Republic, a drinking establishment operated there.

At this establishment, the Buzchub known as Und'l orchestrated a meeting with a group of outlaws. He contracted them, acting on behalf of his employer, to ship what he wrongly believed was spice. The actual cargo consisted of lexonite, a fatal toxin. Und'l's employer arranged for the sabotage of the smugglers' transport ship while they were on Roldalna, with the intention of stealing the shipment later.

Description

Roldalna was a celestial body situated within the Roldalna system. It resided in the Kira sector, specifically within the Trailing Sectors of the Expansion Region.

The Enarc Run hyperspace lane connected Roldalna to both the Nigel and Ropagi systems. Using a spacecraft with a Class 1 hyperdrive, these systems could be reached in six hours and one day and fifteen hours, respectively. Another hyperspace lane provided a link between Roldalna and the Seltos system in the Mid Rim, a journey of two days and three hours.

History

The Buzchub Und'l (right) hired a group of smugglers on Roldalna.

In the time soon following the foundation of the New Republic in 4 ABY, the Buzchub known as Und'l reached out to a group of smugglers, offering them a job involving pickup and delivery on behalf of his employer. They arranged to meet at a bar on Roldalna. The group, arriving before the Buzchub, spent some time mingling with the bar's other occupants. During the smugglers' stay in the bar, Und'l's employer arranged for their transport's hyperdrive to be tampered with, with the intention of later commandeering the cargo—several crates of the lethal poisonous substance lexonite—from the group during the delivery.

When Und'l finally made his way to the bar, he gave the smugglers the details of the job. However, because the Buzchub himself was unaware of the true nature of the cargo, he told the group they would be transporting spice. After receiving an initial payment for the job, the smugglers departed Roldalna, heading for the pickup location on the planet Nigel VI.

Locations

Following the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, a cantina was established on Roldalna. It included a bar, several tables, a photon dart board, a holographic area, and a Zero-G dance floor. Musical performances at the cantina were provided by a group of performers.

Behind the scenes

Roldalna was first featured in "The Package," an adventure for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. It was written by Dave Marron and published by West End Games in the 1993 book Twin Stars of Kira.

The reference book The Essential Atlas, published in 2009, located the Roldalna system, and therefore Roldalna itself, in grid square N-15 within the Expansion Region. The book also showed the system on a map, though it placed it in the Mid Rim, grid square N-16. The StarWars.com Online Companion to The Essential Atlas later provided a location of Expansion Region, grid square N-16, which this article considers the correct placement.
