Rosita Turuy

A human female named Rosita Turuy was an Imperial cadet enrolled at the Royal Imperial Academy located on Coruscant. Displaying xenophobia, she harbored a strong dislike for aliens, particularly the Chiss Mitth'raw'nuruodo, and actively sought to remove him from the Academy.

Biography

Rosita Turuy was a female of the human species. While training as an cadet at the Royal Imperial Academy on Coruscant, she came into contact with Mitth'raw'nuruodo (also known as Thrawn), a Chiss alien hailing from the Unknown Regions, whom she held in disdain.

Reflecting the Galactic Empire's widespread, though unofficial, xenophobia, a sentiment shared by many within the Academy, Turuy plotted with Spenc Orbar and other cadets to expel Thrawn from the institution. Their plan involved luring Thrawn to the metallurgy lab for a gambling session, hoping to catch him in violation of the Academy's strict anti-gambling rules. However, Thrawn revealed a lieutenant's rank plaque given to him by Deenlark, the Academy's Commandant, proving he had permission to be there. When an instructor arrived intending to punish Thrawn and Eli Vanto, they saw Thrawn's plaque and left them alone.

Undeterred, Turuy and her fellow conspirators then turned to physical assault against Thrawn. The Chiss easily defeated his attackers, noting their significant potential as fighter pilots. Thrawn and Vanto reported the incident to Commandant Deenlark. Instead of demanding expulsion, Thrawn suggested the attackers be transferred to Skystrike Academy. Deenlark, reluctant to upset the cadets' influential parents, agreed to Thrawn's suggestion. The attackers, unaware of the arrangement, were left paranoid about the fate of their friends. Following this, they ceased their harassment of Vanto and Thrawn.

Behind the scenes

The character of Rosita Turuy first appeared in the 2017 novel titled Thrawn, authored by Timothy Zahn. Her likeness was depicted in the initial issue of the comic adaptation of that novel, released in 2018.

Inconsistencies

In Thrawn 1, some lines of dialogue originally attributed to Spenc Orbar in the novel were instead given to Turuy, distributing the dialogue more evenly between the two characters. This article considers the novel's version of the events to be the accurate one.
