Sagma system

The Sagma system, a component of the Illisurevimurasi sector, existed within the Outer Rim Territories' region. Initially situated within the Confederacy of Independent Systems territory as the Clone Wars began, the star system was located inside Separatist holdouts-controlled space by 18 BBY. During that year, the Galactic Empire achieved victory over a Sikurdian pirates swarm at the Battle of Sagma, and later, the Empire also triumphed in a engagement within the Sagma system during the Galactic Civil War.

Description

Found within the Trans-Hydian portion of the Outer Rim Territories, the Sagma system was a part of the Illisurevimurasi sector. Its position on the Listehol Run hyperspace route provided a connection to the Mirial system and the Sikurd system situated in the Tynquay sector.

History

The Battle of Sagma, a part of the Listehol Campaign, occurred in the Sagma system.

As the Clone Wars commenced in 22 BBY, the Sagma system was under the control of the Confederacy of Independent Systems; the Eleventh Sector Army of the Galactic Republic was assigned the task of confronting the Confederacy's military forces in the vicinity of the system. By 18 BBY, the Sagma system was located in territory controlled by Separatist holdouts. In that year, the Battle of Sagma took place; this Galactic Empire's Reconquest of the Rim Listehol Campaign engagement saw an Imperial fleet defeat a Sikurdian pirates swarm, allowing them to proceed spinward along the Listehol Run. Years afterward, sometime between 2 BBY and 4 ABY, the Empire was also victorious in a battle during the Galactic Civil War that was fought against the Rebel Alliance in the Sagma system.

Behind the scenes

The Sagma system was initially referenced in "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are," a roleplaying game source article from 1990 within the thirteenth issue of Voyages SF magazine, which placed Stensen's Colony (misspelled "Stenson's Colony") within the Galpos sector. Because the article wasn't released through Lucas Licensing, its canonicity in the Star Wars Legends continuity was never confirmed. Later, the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry positioned the Sagma system in grid square Q-4, and the StarWars.com Online Companion for that book subsequently superseded the Voyages SF 13 placement, establishing the system's location as the Illisurevimurasi sector.
