The Salliche was a frigate that served within the Imperial Navy throughout the Imperial Era. This starship derived its designation from the agriworld of Salliche, a world found within the Core Worlds region. During 14 BBY, the Salliche was a component of the flotilla assigned to Sentinel Base, an Imperial installation under the command of Moff Wilhuff Tarkin. This base was responsible for overseeing the construction of the Imperial battle station that would later be known as the Death Star.
At that point in time, a fabricated transmission indicated that Rampart Station, located nearby, was being assaulted by a rebel cell. At the time, the Salliche, together with the spacetug Fremond, was unoccupied and situated in a fixed orbit above the moon on which Sentinel Base was located. After a communications specialist recited a list of the base's available starships, Tarkin opted to deploy Sentinel's other available combat-ready asset, the Venator-class Star Destroyer named Electrum, to address the purported attack.
The 2014 novel Tarkin, written by James Luceno, included a mention of the Salliche.
