Sargesso asteroids

The Sargesso asteroids existed within the Sargesso system. This system was situated in the Tharin sector, which itself was located within the Slice region of the Outer Rim Territories. The criminal Meeko Ghintee, having previously made his escape from the Galactic Republic prison asteroid Oovo IV in the Oovo system around 32 BBY, found himself pursued by a Tri-Mark VII Interceptor belonging to the Republic Security Force. Subsequently, Ghintee lured the pursuing interceptor into an ambush strategically positioned within the Sargesso asteroids. It was there that the criminal purposefully collided his ship with the vessel, resulting in a breach of its hull, the destruction of its life support systems, and the ultimate killing of its crew. Ghintee later repaired and modified the captured ship, renaming it the Longshot, and eventually established a residence on the Outland Transit Station situated within the Baxel sector.

Behind the scenes

The introduction of the Sargesso asteroids occurred within the Official Strategy Guide published by Prima Games for the LucasArts video game Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, which was released on November 19, 2002. David Hodgson authored this guide, which was published on November 26 of the same year. The reference book The Essential Atlas, published in 2009, pinpointed the location of the Sargesso system, and consequently the asteroids, within grid square S-8.
