Scum & Villainy

The Scum & Villainy (SV) set, an expansion centered around smugglers and bounty hunters for the Star Wars PocketModel TCG (Trading Card Game), debuted on May 28, 2008. Alongside the standard booster packs, a starter set called Thermal Detonation Theme Deck (TDTD) was launched, featuring a pre-constructed 30-card deck and PocketModels from the expansion. In addition, the multimedia project, The Force Unleashed, was incorporated into the SV expansion via a collector's tin containing exclusive in-game items.

Scum and Villainy brought new rules and concepts to the game, including:

  • Forward objectives (objectives deployed in the contested zone)
  • Units possessing alternate stats on the opposite face of their base
  • New icons: Ruthless, Cloaking, Veteran

Exclusive Mega PocketModels

Mega PocketModels compared to a standard sized PocketModel

Beyond the standard units, "oversized" PocketModel units, dubbed Mega PocketModels (or MegaModels) by fans, were distributed starting in April 2008. They served as prize support for Organized Play (OP) tournaments, which were public games registered with WizKids Games that received limited edition prizes. While these units had rarity border colors, they were equally accessible during their sales period or as prizes for tournament champions in OP events. These units were also tournament legal, allowing them to be used in official games and tournaments.

Released alongside George Lucas' 2008 multi-media project of the same title, The Force Unleashed Collector's Tin (TFU or TFU tin) supplemented the Scum & Villainy expansion with up to 51 PocketModel units and a double-sided playmat. The "cloaking" icon was also introduced with this release, enabling Vader's secret apprentice's ship to move with stealth during gameplay. The following three units, among others available in Lucasfilm's multimedia release, were exclusive to the TFU:
