A security platoon consisted of 38 soldiers and was integrated into the headquarters of a battalion, regiment, or battlegroup within the Imperial Army. Typically, the headquarters officer, who also served as the staff officer overseeing support elements and headquarters security, led the security platoon. In the event of an assault on headquarters, they reported to the unit's commanding officer. These platoons were classified as support units, tasked with maintaining internal order. Battlegroup headquarters commonly had two security platoons assigned to them.
Although the COMPNOR Regiments of CompForce appeared the same as a standard Imperial Army Line Regiment, they did not include a security platoon. The stated reason for this absence was the unwavering devotion of CompForce soldiers to the Emperor. This intense self-belief caused friction with personnel from both the Imperial Army and Navy. Furthermore, this loyalty wasn't always consistent, as demonstrated by Battalion Commander Ivo Laibach, who had Zevulon Veers assigned to protect him as a personal bodyguard.
