Senate Security Officer

The Senate Security Officers, often abbreviated as SSOs and sometimes called Senate Security, represented a contingent of soldiers within the Galactic Republic's military. These officers shared responsibility for the safety and security of the Galactic Senate alongside the Coruscant Security Force during both the Great Galactic War and the following Cold War.

History

During the era of the Galactic Republic, the duty of safeguarding the Senate Building on Coruscant fell to Senate Security Officers (SSOs), who were soldiers of the Republic. They shared this responsibility with police officers from the Coruscant Security Force, specifically those holding the rank of Senate Guards.

The SSOs' service extended back to the times of the Great Galactic War and the [Cold War](/article/cold_war_(galactic_republic%e2%80%93sith_empire) that followed. Despite their primary assignment to the Senate Building and the broader Senate District, SSOs, like other units within the Republic Military, could be reassigned and deployed to various military operations. For instance, a number of SSOs were dispatched as part of a Republic fleet with the objective of claiming the planet Sebaddon. Following the successful completion of this mission, Supreme Commander Stantorrs chose to reassign a portion of these SSOs to a specialized unit led by Lieutenant Larin Moxla of the Republic Special Forces.

Eventually, they were superseded by the Senate Guard, which was a distinct and more formally structured organization.

Behind the scenes
