Sentinel existed as a Bakura-class destroyer serving within the ranks of the Bakuran Defense Fleet.
Just as the other vessels in the fleet had been, it was transferred as a loan to the New Republic around 18 ABY amidst the events of the Corellian Crisis. Sentinel, together with its sibling ship, the Defender, stood out as one of a small number of Bakuran vessels that managed to pull through the following Battle of Centerpoint Station. Later on, this ship participated in the battle of Bakura during the extensive Yuuzhan Vong War. It carried the designation BD-80.
