Bakuran Defense Fleet

The Bakuran Defense Fleet, initially established as the Bakuran Defense Militia, also referred to as the Bakuran Alliance system defense force, represented the rebuilt military of Bakura following the events of the Invasion of Bakura in 4 ABY. Its purpose extended beyond merely safeguarding Bakura from another Ssi-ruuvi invasion; it was also intended to shield the planet from external governments, such as the Galactic Empire or the New Republic, if they attempted to impose their will on Bakura.

The core of the Fleet comprised General Purpose Attack Fighters, Namana-class light cruisers, and Bakura-class destroyers, all designed and manufactured by the Bakurans themselves. By 18 ABY, only a quartet of the latter ships—Intruder, Watchkeeper, Defender, and Sentinel—were equipped with the Hyperwave inertial momentum sustainer (HIMS) technology. Despite the force's overall size being unknown, these four vessels were the only ones to receive this experimental technology due to its high cost and the lengthy installation process. The Intruder served as the Fleet's flagship until it was destroyed. Also integrated into the fleet were Dominant, X-wings, and Y-wings.

From its inception until his death in 17 ABY, Commander Pter Thanas commanded the Fleet. After Thanas' passing, Admiral Hortel Ossilege assumed command until his own death the following year. Subsequently, General Grell Panib took over as Commander of the Defense Fleet. The Fleet participated in only three documented conflicts: the Battle of Centerpoint Station (where it suffered significant losses), the Battle of Bakura, and the Yuuzhan Vong War, specifically the Defense of Mon Calamari, and the Recapture of Coruscant.
