The Watchkeeper, a Bakura-class destroyer, served within the ranks of the Bakuran Defense Fleet.

The Watchkeeper was a component of a four-vessel capital ships task force. This group was commanded by the Intruder, a ship enhanced with experimental hyperwave inertial momentum sustainer technology, enabling it to penetrate interdiction fields. In 18 ABY, the New Republic received the Watchkeeper as a loan, with Captain Mantrony in command. This was for use in their offensive against the planet of Selonia during the Corellian Crisis.
Upon entering the Corellian system, the Watchkeeper sustained damage due to the hyperwave inertial momentum sustainer's operation. Although Captain Mantrony managed to restore life support, the propulsion system remained irreparable. Initially, Admiral Hortel Ossilege intended to abandon the ship until the conflict's conclusion. However, he then conceived a plan to use it as a lure, drawing out the superweapon of the Sacorrian Triad during the Battle of Centerpoint Station. The crew was evacuated, and the ship was remotely controlled at the fleet's forefront. This was achieved by combining the Watchkeeper's partially functional sublight engines with tractor beams from other vessels. When Light Attack Fighters from Selonia made a strafing run on the ship and quickly withdrew, inviting pursuit, Admiral Ossilege steered the Watchkeeper into the trap. As predicted, the Selonian planetary repulsor destroyed it, obliterating its entire lower hull before it detonated.
