This image shows the planetary repulsor on Selonia Planetary repulsors represented a specific kind of engineering technology situated beneath a planet. Their function was to shift the planet's location.
These repulsors were located far below the surface. The primary chamber stood half a kilometer tall and had a conical design. A platform, approximately 5 meters in length, was positioned in the center of the chamber, extending outward from a side entrance. At the center of this platform was a console. This console allowed for control of the repulsor, adjustment of the viewing platform's position, and sealing of the doorway to the platform. The chamber's base featured seven cone-like structures; six smaller cones encircled a larger, central cone. The repulsor was encompassed by a vast subterranean complex containing a multitude of other mechanical components. The doorway leading from the viewing platform opened into a lengthy corridor, which terminated at a concealed door providing access to the remainder of the complex.
When activated, the repulsor could create an opening through the top of its chamber, large enough for the viewing platform to pass. Any rocks dislodged during the opening process would be forced back out. These repulsors possessed the capability to relocate the planet they were situated on and to obliterate any spacecraft in orbit.
It has been widely speculated that the Celestials constructed the Corellian system using these devices in conjunction with Centerpoint Station. This theory is supported by the fact that all five planets in the system—Corellia, Selonia, Drall, Talus, and Tralus—had a repulsor situated beneath their surfaces. Over time, these repulsors and their associated complexes were ultimately left unused. The tunnels surrounding Corellia's repulsor became coated with dust, while those around Drall's were repeatedly flooded and filled with mud.
In the year 18 ABY, the Sacorrian Triad, who governed the planet Sacorria within the Corellian sector, desired to secede from the New Republic and establish an independent nation. To achieve this, they supported various extremist factions within the Corellian sector, aiming to incite division and destabilization. Their goal was to trigger an uprising that would overthrow the existing governments of each planet. They instructed each group they supported—the Human League on Corellia, the Absolutists on Selonia, and the Drallist Front on Drall—to locate the planetary repulsors on their respective planets for use as weapons in their planned uprisings.
The Selonians were the first to successfully locate and activate their repulsor, but this led to a situation nearing civil war over its intended use. The Republicanists, a faction opposed to the Absolutists, advocated for handing the repulsor over to the New Republic in exchange for Selonia's continued sovereignty within the New Republic and the Corellian Sector government. Conversely, the Absolutists intended to utilize it as a weapon to secure complete independence.
On Corellia, the search for the planetary repulsor was conducted by members of a Heritage Squad within the Human League, under the leadership of General Brimon Yarar. They concealed their true objective by claiming to be excavating the underground structures for historical research. While New Republic Chief of State Leia Organa Solo and her family were visiting Corellia for a trade summit, the group allowed them to tour the excavation site. During the tour, Organa Solo's children, Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin Solo, separated from the group. Using Anakin's sensitivity to the Force, they discovered the planetary repulsor. They were subsequently found by Q9-X2, the astromech droid belonging to their tutor, Ebrihim, who escorted them back to the group.
Shortly after, as the various groups initiated their uprisings, Jacen, Jaina, Anakin, and their father's companion, Chewbacca, managed to escape Corellia with Ebrihim and Q9 and fled to Drall. There, they encountered Ebrihim's aunt, Marcha, the Duchess of the Mastigophorous clan, who expressed interest in the underground repulsor the Solo children had witnessed. Having learned of a similar excavation site on Drall, she decided to investigate the repulsor herself. Upon arrival, Chewbacca employed a Sounder to locate a tunnel near the surface and a Borer to create an opening. The group entered the tunnel and, utilizing a diagram of the Corellian repulsor obtained by Q9, along with Anakin's Force abilities, were able to locate the repulsor chamber. They moved the Millennium Falcon, the ship they had used to travel to Drall, into the repulsor chamber while they examined it.
Simultaneously, at the request of Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, the Bakuran Defense Fleet arrived in the Corellian system to aid the New Republic. The various groups immediately launched Starfighters. Admiral Hortel Ossilege, suspecting a trap, chose to sacrifice one of his ships, the Watchkeeper. Ossilege's suspicion proved accurate, as a rudimentary plan was in place for the starfighters to lure any large ships entering the system to a specific location, where the Selonian repulsor would destroy them. The Watchkeeper, having been evacuated and piloted by [Slave circuit](/article/slave_circuit], took the bait and proceeded toward the designated point. Upon reaching the location, the repulsor fired, obliterating the ship.
