The Sessal Spire was a volcano that was actively erupting on Keshtah Minor, a landmass situated on the planet Kesh. In the wake of the Great Calamity, which followed the Hundred-Year Darkness, the Dark Jedi known as Baron Remulus Dreypa concealed several larvae of the Leviathan species within the volcano's crater. Around the time the Lost Tribe of Sith discovered Kesh in 5000 BBY, Adari Vaal, a Keshiri geologist, gathered flamestones—a type of rock—from the Spire. It was rumored that Sessal Spire erupted with tremendous force on multiple occasions during the Time of the Rot. This volcanic activity also resulted in damage to the Korsinata stadium, located in Tahv within Keshtah Minor. Some Sith saw these eruptions as a signal to depart from Kesh.
In 2974 BBY, following significant defeats at the hands of the Tribe's forces during the Battle of the Marisota Floodplain, Dreypa and his rebel forces sought refuge at Sessal Spire. At this location, Dreypa awakened his dormant Leviathan creatures and unleashed them upon both his former allies and those who pursued him. An entire army of the Doomed—descendants of former Jedi and Dark Jedi who had arrived on Kesh after the Hundred-Year Darkness and had since reconciled, seeking balance in the Force—was consumed by the Leviathans. After the Siege of Tahv, the Sith Parlan Spinner piloted the Last Hope, an ancient Jedi starship, to Sessal Spire. There, he feigned surrendering the ship to Dreypa, who intended to return to the wider galaxy. However, Spinner had programmed the Last Hope to crash into Sessal Spire on autopilot. The Last Hope collided with the volcano's crater and was destroyed, resulting in Baron Dreypa's death.
