Shai

Shai, a Human admiral (of the male gender) within the Republic Navy, served as one of the commanding officers overseeing the Republic's military operations on Ilum amidst the Galactic War, specifically during the fighting there. Having experienced constant warfare throughout his existence, he had become weary of it and held the belief that Ilum could potentially alter the course of the conflict. He was present when the Jedi Master known as Jaric Kaedan was killed by Imperial forces, and he subsequently attempted to eliminate the entire Imperial presence on Ilum utilizing the experimental weapon, the ELX-25 long-range cannon. During a confrontation with an Imperial hero inside the Republic base, Shai asserted the futility of the Empire's endeavors. He argued that even if the Empire were to utilize Ilum's Adegan Crystals to develop their stealth armada, the Republic would inevitably discover a means to detect and destroy it, thereby initiating a continuous cycle of superweapon creation that would ultimately lead to the mutual destruction of both superpowers or the galaxy itself. Subsequently, he activated ray shields around his person and ordered his troops to engage the invader. However, the Imperial was successful in eliminating all of Shai's troops and destroying the shield generators. Despite sustaining injuries, Shai declared that his demise would not impede the Republic's resistance, asserting that the Empire was destined to fail due to its oppression of freedom, while the Republic's strength lay in its ability to uplift the weak. Disregarding his words, the Imperial proceeded to execute him.
