Shar'Ack, a planet, could be found within the Shar'Ack system. This system resided in the Atrivis sector, which itself was situated in the New Territories region of the Outer Rim Territories.
A world characterized by its forested landscapes, Shar'Ack served as the homeworld for the Shaliz'Na, an avian sentient species. This species was known for producing numerous skilled artisans. In battle, they favored chemically-propelled slughtrower weapons over laser weaponry originating from other worlds.
During the Galactic Civil War era, the Galactic Empire exerted control over all liquor that was produced on Shar'Ack or imported there. Furthermore, the Empire enslaved the Shaliz'Na people, which led to a widespread addiction to alcohol among them. It was around this time that Tyric, a Shaliz'Na musician, departed from his home planet of Shar'Ack. He journeyed across the galaxy and ultimately joined the ranks of the Rebel Alliance.
The planet Shar'Ack received a mention in "The New Rogues Gallery: Unsung Heroes of the Rebellion," an article penned by Joe Littrell. This article was created as a supplement to Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game by West End Games, and it appeared in Polyhedron 59 in May of 1991. Because the article's publication occurred outside the official Lucas Licensing channels, its canonicity within the Star Wars Legends continuity remained unconfirmed.
However, Jason Fry, who co-authored the 2009 reference work The Essential Atlas, has indicated that the names of the star systems listed in the book's Appendix section are derived from the most prominent planets or celestial objects located within those systems. As a result, this article treats the existence of the planet Shar'Ack as canonical within the Legends continuity. The Essential Atlas indicated that the Shar'Ack system was in grid square L-5.
