Shen-Ji Collun was a Jedi Padawan of the Human species (a female) who fought for both the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic as a Commander within the Grand Army of the Republic during the era of the Clone Wars.
Shen-Ji Collun, a Human who exhibited Force-sensitive abilities, received instruction in the Force from the Jedi Order. Selected to be a Padawan during the Separatist Crisis, Collun assumed the position of Commander in the Grand Army of the Republic when the Clone Wars began; this was a major conflict between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
As the conflict intensified, Collun's Jedi Master informed her that she was just two months away from attempting the Trials of Knighthood to become a Jedi Knight. To prepare, Collun received orders to go to the planet Daimar, situated in the Mid Rim. Her master believed this assignment would provide additional training in diplomacy. While Collun was on Daimar, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine put his plans into action to destroy the Jedi Order, issuing Contingency Order 66 to the clone troopers of the Grand Army, thereby initiating the Great Jedi Purge. With the Republic's fall and the rise of the Galactic Empire, Collun found herself trapped on Daimar after the Imperials initiated a blockade of the planet.
Feeling powerless, Collun worked hard to resist the influence of the dark side of the Force, refusing to let fear or hatred control her. She requested asylum from King Mitar of Daimar, who assisted her in regaining her composure by assigning her a mission. Collun became part of an escort team protecting Senator Alet Komain and Princess Wilena as they traveled to the planet Byrsym for safety. There, they planned to meet with a rebel group led by Prince Torrin, Mitar's son. The refugees successfully bypassed the Imperial blockade aboard the starship Wasaka and arrived on Byrsym, which is located in the Outer Rim. Shortly after, the group encountered Agent Ballon, who told Collun that the prince had escaped to Dantooine because he feared imprisonment by the Empire. Upon their arrival on Dantooine, the refugees found comfort in the presence of their prince. Collun, sensing that Princess Wilena possessed latent Force abilities, formed a friendship with the young princess.
