Plot summary
The FarStar receives a signal indicating distress from an Imperial survey team stationed on the world of Demonsgate. Consequently, preparations are made to dispatch an away team to investigate the situation and gather information. However, before the team can depart, the navigator, Makezh, experiences a mental breakdown. He absconds with the Codex that the FarStar recovered from the alien construct, fleeing to the planet's surface in a stolen X-wing.
The landing party pursues him, only to be caught in an ambush orchestrated by an Imperial strike force commanded by Mist. Yet, the Imperials themselves are then attacked by the Aing-Tii, who are attempting to retrieve the Codex from Makezh. The Aing-Tii capture both the Imperials and Makezh, although Mist is successful in escaping. Following these events, the scout "Gammer" Firdaaz, offers to remain on the planet to oversee the Lifeline Project, which serves as a communications channel connecting the FarStar with the New Republic.
