Shwuy sector

The Shwuy sector existed within the Colonies region and encompassed the Uviuy Exen system. The planet of Uviuy Exen was positioned strategically where the hyperlanes of the Hydian Way and the Shwuy Exchange intersected.

As early as 22,000 BBY, Uviuy Exen had already become part of the Galactic Republic, and by 17 BBY, it was integrated into the Galactic Empire. By the time that the Battle of Yavin occurred, over half of the line squads belonging to the Imperial Army within the Shwuy sector were equipped with light repeating blasters. Later, during the struggle between the Empire and the New Republic, Uviuy Exen became the location for two battles between these opposing sides.

Description

The Shwuy sector was situated within the Northern Dependencies area of the [Colonies](/article/colonies-legends] region. It shared its designation with the Shwuy Perimeter region and included the Uviuy Exen system, which itself was the home of the heavily populated planet bearing the same name.

Additionally, the Shwuy system was located within the sector.

The Uviuy Exen system was found at the crossroads of a pair of hyperlanes. The smaller hyperspace route, known as the Shwuy Exchange, served as a connection between the system and the Dankayo system. The Hydian Way super-hyperroute, notably the section once known as the Corsin Run which was integrated into the Hydian Way by 3694 BBY, linked Uviuy Exen to both the Eeropha and Wakeelmui systems.

History

More than half of the Imperial Army squads in the Shwuy sector were armed with light repeating blasters.

While the space surrounding the Uviuy Exen system was thoroughly explored between 20,000 BBY and 15,000 BBY, the planet Uviuy Exen had already joined the Galactic Republic by 22,000 BBY. By 17 BBY, the Galactic Empire had control of Uviuy Exen, and by the time of the Battle of Yavin, a majority of the line squads within the Imperial Army stationed in the Shwuy sector were armed with light repeating blasters. Major Arhul Hextrophon, a historian of the Rebel Alliance, made note of this fact in a compilation of Imperial documents intended for Supreme Commander Mon Mothma and other Rebel officers.

In 6 ABY, the military of the New Republic defeated the forces of Imperial Warlord Zsinj at Uviuy Exen, which was part of an effort to drive Imperial forces up the Hydian Way, and control of the Shwuy sector world shifted to the New Republic during that same year. However, four years later, Imperial forces moving from the Inner Rim's Chagri system emerged victorious against the New Republic in another battle within the Uviuy Exen system, before proceeding onward to the Brentaal system located in the Core Worlds.

Behind the scenes

The Shwuy sector was introduced in the Imperial Sourcebook.

The Shwuy sector initially appeared in the Imperial Sourcebook (1989), which was written by Greg Gorden and published by West End Games for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. Daniel Wallace, who co-authored The Essential Atlas (2009), mentioned in the "Blaster" section of the 111th issue of Star Wars Insider magazine that the Shwuy sector was linked to the Uoti sector of the Core Worlds, even though no official Star Wars sources had confirmed this connection.

A map depicting the Shwuy sector, including the locations of the Dalron, Gerrenthum, Qeimet, Sisk, and Vinsoth systems, was featured in "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are," a 1990 roleplaying game article published in Voyages SF 13. Because the article was not officially licensed by Lucas Licensing, its canonicity within the Star Wars Legends continuity remained unconfirmed. Ultimately, the StarWars.com Online Companion for The Essential Atlas superseded the Voyages SF 13 placement by establishing that these star systems were actually located in the Mid Rim's Ariarch sector and the Outer Rim Territories' Anoat, Juris, Calaron, and Quelii sector, respectively.
